Richard Stappenbeck

Richard Stappenbeck , also Ricardo Stappenbeck , (born May 2, 1880 in Salzwedel , † July 12, 1963 in Munich ) was a German geologist, known for research on the geology of Argentina . He was a professor of engineering geology at the TH Charlottenburg .

He explored the Andean region of Argentina (and orogeny of the Andes) and contributed to the discovery of the Comodoro Rivadavia oil field. In particular, he is known for fundamental work on the hydrogeology of Argentina. He published on oil occurrences and deposits in Argentina and usable minerals in South America. He worked temporarily for the Ministry of Agriculture in Argentina.

He received his doctorate in Berlin in 1905 (About Stephanospondylus ng and Phanerosaurus H. v. Meyer) and was a student of Josef Felix Pompeckj .

In the founding year 1910, Stappenbeck became a member of the Geological Association and in the founding year 1912 a member of the Paleontological Society .
