Richard Steimle

Richard Steimle (born December 18, 1923 , † March 18, 2000 in Stuttgart ) was a German football player.

Career

In his youth, Steimle was trained as a striker at VfR Gaisburg . He also played in this position after moving to Stuttgarter SC , with whom he entered the Gauliga Württemberg at the age of 17 . In 1945 Steimle moved to VfB Stuttgart , where he played as a left defender. With VfB he was German champion in 1950 and 1952 and German cup winner in 1954. In 1951 he and the VfB team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf . He ended his career in 1954 because of a delayed jaundice .

He was a member of the VfB Presidium from 1975 to 1995 and from 1976 to 1987 he was also the VfB team manager. In 1994 he became an honorary member of VfB Stuttgart.
