Richard Taylor (politician)

Richard Taylor

Richard Taylor (born July 7, 1934 ) is an English doctor and politician. He chairs the UK Independent Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern . From 2001 to 2010 he represented the Wyre Forest constituency in the UK House of Commons .

The party, which Taylor was already chairing at the time, emerged from a political campaign that opposed the closure of the emergency department at Kidderminster Hospital. In the 2001 general election , Taylor unexpectedly won the seat of his Wyre Forest constituency. In the 2001-2005 legislative period he was the only “independent” representative in the lower house - all other members of parliament belonged to either the Labor Party or the Conservative Party . In the 2005 general election he was just re-elected. This was the first time since 1949 that an independent could defend his parliamentary seat in the next election. It had helped that the Liberal Democrats , who are currently trying to establish themselves as the third party in Great Britain, did not put up their own candidate, but recommended the election of Taylor.

In the 2010 general election , however, the Liberal Democrats nominated Wyre Forest's own candidate, and so the Conservative Party candidate won the majority of the constituency's vote, causing Taylor to lose his seat in the lower house.
