Richard Thomas (diplomat)
Sir Richard Thomas , CMG since 1990 (* 1938 ) is a former British diplomat.
Life
Richard Thomas joined the Foreign Office in 1961 and was posted to Ghana, Togo, the North Atlantic Council in Paris and Brussels and New Delhi . In Prague he was a delegation counselor and at times business porter .
From 1983 to 1986 he was ambassador in Reykjavík and from 1989 to 1994 in Sofia . Richard Thomas was then appointed as British High Commissioner in Bridgetown until his retirement in 1998 .
Thomas was teaching at the Royal Institute of International Affairs (Chatham House) in 1998 and 1999. He was also trustee and chairman of the Leonard Cheshire Disability from 1999 to 2005 and of the Rye Arts Festival from 2004 to 2010 .
