Richard Wershe, Jr. , also known as White Boy Rick (born July 18, 1969 ), is a former drug trafficker from Detroit and was considered the FBI's youngest informant to date at the age of 14 in the mid-1980s . He was considered one of the most powerful drug traffickers in the United States at the age of 17.

Life

Lower-middle-class Richard Wershe began trading drugs on the streets of Detroit at the age of 14. Together with his father, a petty criminal who illegally sold weapons, he was hired by the federal police to deal with drugs. As an informer, Wershe was not only supposed to investigate local drug traffickers, but also to expose corrupt police and judicial officers. The FBI hired him as an informant and in return promoted his advancement in the drug scene.

During his work as an informant, Wershe betrayed various criminals, including 30 members of the notorious Detroit gang Best Friends Inc. , including the convicted hit man Nathaniel "Nate Boone" Craft, which enabled the authorities to smash their machinations. While Wershe was enjoying his informant status and gaining influence in the drug scene, he fell in love with the Detroit mayor's niece, five years his senior, who was married to drug lord Johnny Curry at the time. He was also handed over to the police by Wershe.

At the age of 17 in late 1987, Wershe was arrested during a police check with over eight kilograms of cocaine and $ 25,000 and sentenced to life imprisonment with no parole on January 15, 1988.

After Wershe 29 years imprisonment at the facility Oaks Correctional Facility in the state of Michigan had served, he could be released in August 2017 after an examination of his case, but was immediately after Florida in the jail Center Reception and Medical misplaced, since he participated in a fence ring for stolen cars while in custody and pleaded guilty. His release from custody is scheduled for August 17, 2020.
