Richard Winfred Anane (born March 12, 1954 in Kumasi ) is a Ghanaian politician and medicine. He was Minister of Road Transport in the government of John Agyekum Kufuor from 2001 to July 31, 2007 .

Anane attended the Asanteman Secondary School in his hometown of Kumasi in the Ashanti region , where he also obtained his GCE -O-Level certificate. He was at the Aggrey Memorial Secondary School in Cape Coast between 1974 and 1976. He later enrolled at the Kwame Nkrumah University for Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi in human medicine.

Career

After studying medicine in Kumasi, he worked as a doctor at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, Kumasi. He was promoted to Senior Medical Officer in 1990 and moved to Hebrona Hospital as Medical Director in 1998.

Politically, Anane's career began in 1980 in the USA division of the Popular Front Party (PFP). As early as 1981 he became president of the university division of the All Peoples' Party . He was the coordinator for the northern sector in the Progress Youth Club and became a member of the current ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP). Anane is a member of the National Council of the NPP.

In the 1996 and 2000 elections, Anane ran for the NPP and entered the Ghanaian parliament. In the fourth republic in the second government, Anane was a minority spokesman for food and agriculture and a member of the Committee on Cocoa and Food and Agriculture Affairs. Anane is also the Member of Parliament responsible for health.
