Richard Woodman

Richard Woodman (* 1944 in London ) is a British writer of marine history novels and non-fiction. Best known is his series of novels about Nathaniel Drinkwater.

biography

At the age of 16, Woodman went to sea as a cadet . After he had qualified as a navigational officer , he mainly drove to the Far East for the merchant navy until around 1966 . He then continued his career at Trinity House , but retired early in 1997 with the rank of captain to devote himself entirely to writing.

His main work consists of the 14 volumes so far on the life and career of Nathaniel Drinkwater . In addition, he developed shorter series around his two other characters James Dunbar and William Kite , but has also written marine history books on the history of the 18th century and the Second World War . He has written numerous articles for magazines and radio shows, and written a monthly column for Lloyd's List magazine.
