Macropus is a genus from the kangaroo family(Macropodidae) and comprises 14 species, including one that is extinct. It includes the red and gray giant kangaroos , the mountain kangaroos (wallaroos) and the wallabies in the narrower sense.

The three largest species are called "giant kangaroo", this term only refers to the size and does not represent a systematic classification.
