The Riesewohld is a 700 hectare forest in the Dithmarschen district , Schleswig-Holstein . For German standards, the forest is still unusually close to that of a real primeval forest . It is the largest forest area in Dithmarschen. Large parts are protected as FFH area DE-1821-391 Riesewohld and adjacent areas .

This forest was formerly known as Bauernwald kleinparzellig farmed, many plots were used only occasionally, others so that the forest still relatively close to the natural state is not. The Riesewohld has almost all facets of a Central European primeval forest, from nutrient-poor oak forests to mesotrophic beech forests to liver moss-rich swamp forests . The forest in the Heide-Itzehoer Geest benefits from the uphill rain of the nearby North Sea and is therefore very rich in water. There are numerous springs in the area.

Most of the forest is in the area of the Odderade municipality .
