The Riiser-Larsen Sea is a marginal sea of the Southern Ocean off the coast of Antarctica , which lies between the Lasarew Sea in the west and the Cosmonaut Sea in the east. It extends from 14 ° East to 30 ° East. Its northern limit is defined by the 65th parallel. Much of the sea is deeper than 3000 m and covers 1,138,000 km². It is covered in ice for most of the year, causing many icebergs to calve there. In the south, the sea borders the Princess Astrid Coast and the Princess Ragnhild Coast of Queen Maud Land .

The coast was named after the Norwegian aviation pioneer and polar explorer Hjalmar Riiser-Larsen .
