The Dutch Rijkspolitie (German: Reichspolizei ) was founded in 1945 after the remilitarization of the Royal Marechaussee for police services in communities with fewer than 25,000 inhabitants. With more than 25,000 inhabitants, a municipality had its own municipal police corps ( municipality politics ).

In addition to the corps for police service in the country, the water police ( Waterpolitie ), the airport police ( at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol ) ( Luchthavenpolitie ) and the railway police ( Spoorwegpolitie ) were units of the Reich Police .

The autobahn department of the Reich Police was best known for having Porsche vehicles .

At the beginning of 1994 the Reichspolizei was abolished because of the reorganization of the Dutch police force and the units and tasks of the Regiopolitie , the Korps Landelijke Politiediensten and the Koninklijke Marechaussee were integrated.
