Bode is a relatively small impact crater on the front of the moon between Sinuis Aestuum and Sinus Medii , northwest of Pallas . The crater is bowl-shaped with a flat bottom. To the east of it is a system of lunar grooves , the Rimae Bode .

The crater was officially named by the IAU in 1935 after the German astronomer Johann Elert Bode .
