Rimantas Gučas

Rimantas Gučas (born August 22, 1942 in Kaunas , Lithuania ) is a Lithuanian musicologist and organ builder .

Life

In 1965 he graduated in musicology at the Lithuanian Conservatory from. Then he worked at the Museum of Music and Theater in Vilnius . In 1972 Rimantas Gučas founded a workshop for the restoration of organs on behalf of the state monument protection authority. Numerous historical instruments were restored in Lithuania under his direction, and some new ones were also created.

Rimantas Gučas devoted himself intensively to researching the organ building history of the country and inventoried all organs.

The size of the instruments is indicated in the fifth column by the number of manuals and the number of sounding registers in the sixth column. A capital “P” stands for an independent pedal, a lowercase “p” for an attached pedal. Italics indicate that the organ in question is no longer preserved.
