Ring trilogy
The Ring Trilogy consists of three fantasy books by the American romance author Nora Roberts . The individual books were first published in 2006 as Morrigan's Cross (Part 1), Dance Of The Gods (Part 2) and Valley Of Silence (Part 3). The series is also called The Circle Trilogy in English and was published by Jove-Verlag. They were published in German as a paperback in 2007 and 2008 by the Blanvalet publishing house .

Green like hope
The story begins with a commission from the goddess of war Morrigan to Hoyt, a wizard from the 12th century. And that shortly after Hoyt (he believes) killed his twin brother Cian in a grueling fight (Cian - always the more carefree of the two - was killed by Lilith and turned into a vampire - and then attacked his brother). Hoyt is supposed to find and unite the ring of six . Then he has to go into battle against the vampire queen Lilith. The fight takes place in Geall, in the Valley of Silence on Samhain. After saying goodbye to his family and entrusting Morrigan's crosses to their protection, Hoyt follows Morrigan's invitation and suddenly Hoyt finds himself in the 21st century in New York. There he meets his brother, who has existed as a vampire for almost 1000 years. Cian is the first that Hoyt for the Then he ends up with the beautiful witch Glenna. At first she doesn't think much of the fight and the idea of leaving her current life. But in an incident in the metro, a vampire appears to her to frighten her, whereupon she decides to fight. King, a friend of Cian, is believed to be the 'warrior' of the Six. They fly with him to Ireland , where Cian makes his [and Hoyt's] parents' house available as a training camp. While Cian, King, Hoyt and Glenna are settling in Ireland, Morrigan's call also follows in Geall Moira. Moira's mother, Queen of Geall, was murdered by vampires and has just been buried. Moira is the scholar and takes her cousin, Larkin, the guest-climber with her. Through the portal [dance floor of the gods] they also get to Ireland in the 21st century, where they are immediately attacked by vampires and saved by Cian and the others. The ring of six seems united, they train and try to form a unit. It soon becomes clear that Hoyt and Glenna belong together. With united power they create powerful magical weapons and a cross, as a symbol of togetherness and as protection against vampires. Then an incident destroys the ring: King is kidnapped and transformed, he is believed to be dying. However, he comes back as a vampire to kill them all. He is no longer himself and dies at Cian's hand. It took Cian a tremendous effort to kill King, after all he was his best friend.
Suddenly Blair appears, a demon hunter. She is the warrior and not King as assumed . So she joins the ring and trains head, heart, endurance, strength and toughness with the others. At the end of the first volume, Glenna and Hoyt get married. Their connection strengthens the Ring of Six very much. But their wedding ceremony (handfasting) is disrupted by the attack of some vampires.
Blue like happiness
In the second book of Nora Roberts' trilogy, the six defeat the vampires who disrupted the wedding and then end their ceremony. We continue to train and work on the magic. But her night's sleep is disturbed by the evil appearances of Lilith. You wonder if Lilith is also hosting a magician. Their suspicions are confirmed when they, with the help of Larkin, explore the caves where Lilith lives and also prepare for the fight. The sight is terrifying: people are locked in cages, who are eaten as needed. Fortunately, Larkin can free some. Glenna writes a jointly chosen challenge to Lilith with magic on a rock in front of the caves.
Blair and Larkin grow closer and closer and, despite initial concerns, become a couple. Like Glenna and Hoyt, they come from another time and both want to live together in the 21st century. This connection also strengthens the bond and the power of the elect, and everyone is now ready for good cooperation and equipped for the fight against the vampire queen. Despite some acts of revenge from Lilith, they prepare for the trip to Geall. The exact date was given to them by Morrigan and now the question arises as to how Cian is supposed to get through the portal of the gods as a vampire. But he too is one of the gods chosen and is pulled through the portal by Moira. You get to Geall and are welcomed by Moiras and Larkin's family. You can now live in the royal castle. Moira gradually takes over the royal duties as she will become queen at a later date. The battlefield is in the Valley of Silence and is visited by some of the Six and trapped for the vampire army. On one of these trips, Blair meets Lora, Lilith's lover. While Larkin brings home an injured family, Blair faces many vampires. She pours holy water on Lora's face and Larkin saves Blair. The Six also prepare the people of Geall for battle and show what beings vampires are. Moira wins the fight and proves herself again with her people.
Red like love
The last part of the ring trilogy begins with a dream about Cian that is sent to him by Lilith. He dreams of their first meeting and how she turned him into a vampire. Then she appears to him personally and promises him everything when he comes back to her. The offer is tempting, but Cian notices her lie and chases her away. The dream still makes him uncomfortable and he thinks about his life. So, through their magic, the six decide to send Lilith a dream too. Cian mentally travels to her and lets her see her transformation and the shame that preceded the transformation. This causes her great pain and her thirst for revenge against the ring increases.
In Geall, Moira becomes queen when she pulls the sword out of the stone. A new phase of life begins for her and her people place all hope in the new queen. In addition to fighting and fighting training, she now has to take on the duties of a queen. But her heart belongs to Cian, they both fell in love. At first they try to suppress their feelings because they don't see a future together. When Moira finally seduces him, they realize their feelings and that they have to part at some point. While Moira has her duties as queen in Geall, Cian cannot stay by her side [since as a vampire he cannot father children and they only have the hours of the night]. Preparations for the fight are in progress, more and more traps are being set up for Lilith's army and the battlefield is now being visited by all members. The first troops withdraw and have to prove themselves against vampires right from the start.
With the help of Larkin they can win dragons for themselves and also transport objects and people in the air. Only children, old people and a few mothers remain in the castle. All of Geall is prepared for battle. When this finally begins, the end is unclear. Vampires crawl out of the ground, and Lilith magically has a dark wizard at her side. A lot of blood flows, but finally the good wins and Lilith and her vampire army are destroyed. The gods thank the Six because they saved the world. So everyone is returning to the 21st century, only Moira remains in Geall and mourns Cian. It is the same with Cian, who cannot take the pain and takes refuge in alcohol. But the gods have a very special gift for them: Cian is allowed to become human again and returns to Geall, to his Moira. There they live happily ever after.
Characters
- Cian: He's a vampire , but only drinks pig's blood. He has lived as a businessman in the 21st century for more than 1000 years. Cian is Hoyt's twin brother and is rather cool and absent.
- Hoyt: Hoyt is a 12th century wizard from Ireland. He then travels into the 21st century on behalf of the gods. Married to Glenna, Hoyt is more of a calm, thoughtful person.
- Glenna: She's a 21st century New York witch and joins the ring too. She is married to Hoyt. Glenna is a cheerful young woman.
- King: He's a good friend of Cian's as well as his bodyguard. King was taken in and raised by Cian as a child. He dies from vampires, and initially appears to be the warrior of the ring.
- Moira: She is the Queen of Geall, the cousin of Larkin, and the Scholar of the Ring. She marries in the epilogue Cian and is a rather calm, smart woman.
- Larkin: He's the cousin of Moira, a nobleman in Geall and the shapeshifter . Larkin is Blair's boyfriend and a charming, fun-loving young man.
- Blair: She's the demon hunter, so the warrior of the ring. Blair lives in the United States in the 21st century and has a troubled past. She is also Larkin's girlfriend.
- Lilith: She is the evil vampire queen in the book who has lived for more than 2000 years. Lilith wants to have power over all worlds. She is bisexual and, besides her lover Lora, has a relationship with many men. Before her transformation, she was a temple priestess, but she was abandoned by her lover and then turned into a vampire. Lilith is very beautiful, but psychologically disturbed even as a person.
