Ring My Bell is a 1979 song by Anita Ward , written and produced by Frederick Knight. It appeared on the album Songs of Love.

history

Knight originally wrote Ring My Bell for Stacy Lattisaw, who was 11 at the time . She signed with another label and so Anita Ward came into play, who didn't like the song or the disco genre. In the end, she sang the song anyway.

An electronic drum kit is used for the drum and tubular bells are also used. In the text, a woman encourages her husband to relax with her after a hard day at work.

The title of the song is considered sexually suggestive in The Slanguage of Sex from 1984. Based on the chorus "You can ring my bell any time you want to" (German: You can ring my bells whenever you want), the song was hotly debated in the late 1970s, which is why the song was listed 50 in Billboard magazine sexiest songs of all time was recorded. Knight assured in an interview that he wanted to avoid suggestive texts in order to give Ward a better image.

The release was on May 10, 1979. The disco number became a number one hit in the United States, Great Britain, New Zealand, Canada, Norway and Spain .
