Ringaskiddy ( Irish Rinn an Scidigh ) is a small port town in County Cork in the south of the Republic of Ireland .

Location and infrastructure

Ringaskiddy is south of Cobh and about 15 kilometers southeast of Cork City , near Cork Airport ; with Cork City, the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland, the place is connected by the national road N28 . A nearby larger town is Crosshaven . Passenger ferries to France operate from Ringaskiddy .

The population of Ringaskiddy (not including the surrounding area) was determined to be 580 in the 2016 census .

Ringaskiddy is home to the National Maritime College of Ireland .

Attractions

A Martello tower in Ringaskiddy offers a wide view of Cork Harbor, a large natural harbor with Ringaskiddy on the western side, and of Great Island .
