The ring wall Kellerskopf is a defunct rampart ( Höhenburg ) at the top of the Kellerskopf , a mountain in the southern Taunus . The wall is located about 700 meters west of Naurod . Today the complex is shaped by the inn in the middle of the complex and the associated observation tower.
In the area of the ramparts, the mountain drops steeply on all sides. The wall itself is only visible in places and here only very weakly. It probably surrounded the mountain top in an approximately circular shape. The course of the rampart shows extensive interruptions. A ditch cannot be found. There are no statements on the time of origin or use.
The facility was explored in 1909 by Christian Ludwig Thomas . There are no finds that allow a dating of the complex.
Monument protection
The castle stable of the ramparts is a ground monument according to the Hessian Monument Protection Act . Investigations and targeted collection of finds are subject to approval, and accidental finds are reported to the monument authorities.
