The ring wall at the Kellerskopf indicates an early settlement of the Naurod area . The final syllable "-rod" indicates that the place was founded in the 12th or 13th century. Naurod means "new clearing ". The first documentary mention dates from 1346. In this document, Count Gerlach von Nassau , who handed over his land to his sons, stipulated what the villages had to do to him. Then it says: "Accordingly to Nauerth from the interest fourteen pounds of money". Between 1727 and 1730 Johann Jacob Bager built the baroque village church, which is well worth seeing . It is an octagonal central building, which is known far beyond the borders of Naurod due to its unusual shape.

For this purpose, the entire main street will be closed and in the adjacent courtyards mainly cider and maypole will be served in the Strauss taverns. The festival usually takes place on the second weekend in May and attracts several 10,000 visitors over four days (there were five for the first time in 2008). In the summer months, the "Naurod summer mood" has been celebrated in front of the Protestant parish hall for several years. Various local associations offer wines from the Rheingau region. The Nauroder Nikolausmarkt usually takes place on the weekend after Nicholas in Obergasse. After the completion of the new village square behind the church, this will take place there.
