Heßloch is a district of the Hessian state capital Wiesbaden .
The place is the smallest district in Wiesbaden with almost 700 inhabitants and was incorporated into Wiesbaden on April 1, 1928.
The village on the edge of the Taunus is surrounded by orchards and is close to the federal highway 455 , which leads from Wiesbaden to the federal highway 3 . The motorway entrance is about 5 km from Heßloch. Neighboring districts are Bierstadt , Rambach , Naurod and Kloppenheim .
The most famous resident is probably the former Federal Minister of the Interior, Manfred Kanther .
history
The name Heßloch (Heseloch) is mentioned for the first time in a document in 1221 and is named as a forest, occasionally a limitation of the former Bierstadt Fronhube (Fronhof); because 800 years ago there was only forest in today's municipal area, mainly hazelnut bushes. The name of the settlement is composed of the words hazel and hole in the old sense of the bush forest (Loh).
Due to the small number of inhabitants, the community could not raise the funds to build its own church; therefore the citizens of Hessloch took part in the service in Naurod or in the Kreuzkapelle at the Sonnenberg cemetery. After the extension of the Kloppenheim church between 1706 and 1708, the people from Hessloch went to the church there for two and a half centuries. Only after the Second World War were the services held in the Hessloch school. It was not until 1976 that a parish hall was built in Heßloch, which is not only used for church services, but also for meetings, celebrations and get-togethers.
On April 1, 1928, the municipality of Heßloch was incorporated into the city of Wiesbaden in the course of the dissolution of the Wiesbaden district. A long period of local self-government, which also included its own financial administration, came to an end. In 1934 the local administrative office was closed and moved to Bierstadt.
Although it was enlarged by the designation of new building areas and has become a residential district, Hessloch has been able to retain its rural character to this day.
A number of infrastructure projects have been implemented since the 1970s: the Auf der Heide sports field was expanded from 1973 to 1975 , the construction of an old people's and leisure area was carried out in self-help, and in 1977 the new festival and notch area next to the gymnasium was completed.
In 1982 the new building of the fire station was completed. In 1983 the gymnastics and sports club was able to inaugurate its gymnasium, which was largely built in self-help and which also functions as a community center for Hessloch. In the 1990s, the wine press house in the center of the village was built and inaugurated.

The coat of arms is a golden scale on a blue background. It is very similar to the coat of arms of Wiesbaden-Breckenheim .
