Southeast is a district of the Hessian capital Wiesbaden .

The city district extends southeast of the historic pentagon , from Wilhelmstrasse to the Südfriedhof . In the west it includes the Dichterviertel , in the east the housing area Hainerberg . The north is bounded by Bierstädter Straße.

Important authorities and buildings

The development of the 6.62 square kilometer urban district is very heterogeneous and ranges from the residential areas of historicism to modern office buildings. Mainly service companies have settled in the city district.

The Wiesbaden main station was built from 1904 to 1906 by Fritz Klingholz in neo-baroque forms.

The Luther Church , built between 1908 and 1910 in Art Nouveau style, is located on Gutenbergplatz . The interior with 1200 seats is elliptical. Above the altar is the pulpit and above the organ. A band of green-painted arches with vegetal ornamentation runs above the nave with its brown wood paneling, while the vaulted ceiling is yellow-ocher.

Numerous authorities have their headquarters here. These include the Hessian ministries for finance , interior affairs , social affairs , the environment and the economy . Other important authorities are the Hessian State Office for Environment and Geology , the State Criminal Police Office and the Federal Statistical Office .

Museums

Opposite the newly built RheinMain CongressCenter is the Museum Wiesbaden (Hessian State Museum for Art and Nature) in Friedrich-Ebert-Allee.

An art museum for almost 400 works of high-quality abstract art from Reinhard Ernst's art collection has been under construction on Wilhelmstrasse and Rheinstrasse since the beginning of 2019. The 7500 square meter reinhard Ernst museum is planned by the Japanese architect Fumihiko Maki . Opposite on Friedrich-Ebert-Allee is the Wiesbaden Museum - Hessian State Museum for Art and Nature.

The Nassau Art Association and its exhibition rooms are located in Wilhelmsstraße .

Culture and sport

In addition, the Wiesbaden youth and cultural center Schlachthof , as well as the Brita-Arena , the venue of the second division soccer club SV Wehen Wiesbaden are located in this district .

The Wiesbaden-Southeast local advisory board

On May 7, 2013, Uli Weimer ( SPD ) was elected as a new mayor with votes from the SPD and the Greens . He replaced Andreas Knüttel ( CDU ) after 12 years in office . The CDU expressly waived the position of a deputy post offered to it by the other parliamentary groups, since the CDU, as the largest parliamentary group, had the right to provide the mayor.

Election results for the Wiesbaden-Southeast local council

Since 1972, the Wiesbaden-Southeast local advisory board has been elected at the same time, but independently, with the elections for the Wiesbaden city council .
