Klarenthal is a district of the Hessian capital Wiesbaden .

The name goes back to the nearby former monastery Klarenthal , of which some buildings are still preserved.

The settlement in the style of a " Trabanten- " or satellite city was in the early 1960s on the slopes of the Taunus and overlooking the downtown Wiesbaden on the green field according to the plan of Ernst May by the Nassau homestead built. It mainly consists of large apartment buildings and high-rise apartment buildings, which are surrounded by greenery. There are also many terraced houses. The groundbreaking ceremony took place on September 11, 1964, and the first apartments were occupied in February 1966. Today around 10,400 people live here.

Some social hot spots are known in Klarenthal, however, in the past six years, extensive social projects have been started in Klarenthal-Nord (4,500 inhabitants) in order to mitigate social risks. Exemplary for Wiesbaden and the Rhine-Main area are a concierge service in the high-rise quarter, a separate district television and several district meeting places for senior citizens. Volunteering is a major part of the social tasks here.

The Federal Training Center (BLZ) for shooting sports is located in Wiesbaden-Klarenthal .
