Riparium

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The riparium is a term seldom used in vivaristics and describes the special form of an aquaterrarium , which simulates a bank biotope (lat. 'Ripa' = bank). A shore terrarium has a part of land that is more or less clearly delimited from a part of water. The land itself or most of the land is not permanently wet and is overgrown by terrestrial plants.

In practice, ripariums are often confused or equated with paludariums .
