The Riphug Monastery or the Shalu Riphug Hermitage of the Shalu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism is located in Shigatse , Tibet , not far from Shalu . The monastery was founded in 1314 by Butön Rinchen Drub , the 11th abbot of Shalu Monastery. Inside is a stupa called Tongdrol Chenmo, which Butön had originally built in 1359 in honor of his late mother.
