Rissa was a municipality in the Central Norwegian administrative district Sør-Trøndelag . Since January 1, 2018, it has belonged to the newly formed Indre Fosen municipality . 6622 inhabitants lived in an area of ​​621 km² (as of June 30, 2017). The last mayor was Per Kristian Skjærvik ( Arbeiderpartiet ).

Geography and history

The municipality of Rissa was on the north coast of the Trondheimfjord on the Fosen peninsula . It was created in 1964 when the municipalities of Stjørna, Rissa and Stadsbygd merged.

From the village of Rorvika there is a ferry to Trondheim . The Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder A / S shipyard is located in Rissa .

Rissa is the home of Skule Bårdsson , who declared himself King of Norway in 1239. The German painter Rissa chose her stage name after this place.
