Fosen Yard is a shipyard based in Rissa in the Norwegian municipality of Indre Fosen on the Trondheimfjord . The name is derived from the Fosen peninsula on which the company's headquarters are located.

history

The company Frengen Slip & Motorverksted in Rissa had been offering technical services in shipbuilding since 1918 . In 1962, the Norwegian Jens Bye bought the company and expanded it into a shipyard. In 1972 the shipyard moved to its current location and was renamed Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder (FMV). FMV A / S was owned by the Bye family from 1962 to 2007. Fosen Yards Holding includes:

  • Fosen Mekaniske Verksteder A / S in Rissa, Norway
  • Landskrona Varvet AB (formerly Bruces Shipyard ) in Landskrona, Sweden

At the end of April 2008, the Norwegian Bergen Group, a group of six investors, announced the takeover of the holding company in the Bergen Group Shipbuilding Division . Thereafter until 2014 the company operated as the Bergen Group Fosen .

At the end of 2008 the company had 310 employees of its own, and a further 360 employees were employed by the supplier companies. Of these, 250 are employed at the Bergen Group Fosen and 60 at Bergen Group Landskrona .

In autumn 2018, the company took over the majority of the Nordseewerke based in Emden .
