RoPax is short for Roll On / Roll Off of freight and Pax for passengers .

RoPax ferries, also known as combi ferries or combi carriers, are RoRo ships that can also carry more than 12 passengers.

RoPax ferries have large decks that can be loaded and unloaded easily and quickly , especially for road vehicles and rollable goods, and in some cases also for rail vehicles ( rail ferries ). Often they have facilities such as restaurants, cinemas and casinos, and there are often separate areas for truck drivers with separate dining rooms and cabins with showers.

RoPax ferries are operated worldwide and in Europe on the routes Gothenburg - Kiel , Kiel - Klaipėda , Hoek van Holland - Harwich , Frederikshavn - Gothenburg, Holyhead - Dublin , Gdynia - Karlskrona , Travemünde - Trelleborg , Helsinki - Travemünde, Rostock - Trelleborg , Sassnitz - Trelleborg, Rostock - Gedser , Stornoway - Ullapool and Ancona - Igoumenitsa .
