The Star class is a class of five RoPax - ferry , commissioned by Finnlines at Fincantieri in the shipyards of Ancona and Castellammare di Stabia were built. Most of them are used in traffic between Finland , Poland and Germany as well as Germany and Sweden . Almost all of these ships were delivered to the shipping company late .

Finnstar

The Finnstar was the first completed ship. The ship was built by Fincantieri in Castellammare di Stabia. It was handed over to Finnlines in July 2006; actually the ship was supposed to be handed over in autumn 2005. The Star class is named after this ship. The Finnstar is used as a fast connection on the Helsinki - Travemünde route. The home port of Finnstar is Mariehamn , Åland .

In November 2005, a small fire broke out on board during construction, but it was quickly brought under control. In January 2015, the ship was the first ship in its class to be equipped with scrubbers.

Finnmaid

The Finnmaid was built by Fincantieri in Ancona and is used on the Helsinki - Travemünde route. It was handed over to Finnlines in August 2006. Finnmaid's home port is Mariehamn, Åland.

Immediately after the first crossing to Finland, the Finnmaid had to be serviced at the Lloyd shipyard in Bremerhaven due to problems with the bow thruster .

Finnlady

The Finnlady was originally built as Europalink , but Finnlines decided to change the names and areas of operation of the ships due to delays in the construction of the actual Finnlady . The Finnlady was built by Fincantieri in Ancona and was handed over to Finnlines in February 2007; it should actually be handed over in October 2006. The Finnlady is used on the Helsinki - Travemünde route. Her home port is Mariehamn, Åland.

Europalink

The Europalink was originally built as Finnlady , but Finnlines decided to change the names and areas of operation of the ships due to delays in construction. The Europalink was built by Fincantieri in Castellammare di Stabia and should be delivered in mid-2006. It was actually delivered in March 2007 and was used by Nordö-Link between Malmö and Travemünde until mid-April 2009 . From mid-April 2009 she switched to the Travemünde - Helsinki route. From June 2009 the ship also called at Gdynia , and from October 2009 also at Rostock . From December the ship operated the routes Helsinki - Travemünde and Helsinki - Gdynia - Rostock. Their home port was Malmö, Sweden.

In September 2013, Europalink was sold to the Grimaldi Group for 86 million euros . Finnlines put the ship out of service in October 2013. After a renovation in Yalova , the ship under the Italian flag with home port Palermo for Minoan Lines between Trieste , Ancona , Igoumenitsa and Patras was put into service.

On September 20, 2014, Europalink rammed a rock on the islet of Peristéres off the north-western tip of Corfu in the Strait of Corfu on its way from Igoumenitsa to Italy . The ferry succeeded despite leak and flip side , the port of Kérkyra to run. The ship was stabilized at the port with tugs. All 692 passengers were uninjured. From November 2014 to September 2015 the ship was repaired in Yalova . From September 2015 to January 2018 the ship was used between Palermo and Livorno .

In January 2018, Finnlines took over the ship and launched it under the Swedish flag with its home port of Malmö . It has been in use between Malmö and Travemünde since February 2018.

Finnswan

The Finnswan was originally built as a north link by Fincantieri in Castellammare di Stabia, but the final expansion took place in Ancona. The ship was due to be delivered in March, but the delivery was delayed until July 2007. The ship sailed under the flag of Sweden with its home port of Malmö . After her arrival in Travemünde she replaced the Malmö Link in traffic between Travemünde and Malmö. From mid-February 2009 to October 2012 she operated the routes Travemünde - Helsinki and Helsinki Gdynia - Rostock . In October 2012 she returned to her original route Travemünde - Malmö and replaced the Finneagle there . Between December 2016 and January 2017 and February and March 2017 the ship was briefly deployed between Travemünde and Helsinki. Their home port was Malmö, Sweden.

In February 2017 the ship was renamed Finnswan and sailed under the flag of Finland, the home port became Mariehamn . From February 2018 the ship was used between Travemünde and Helsinki. The Finnswan has been in service between Naantali , Långnäs and Kapellskär since May 2018 .
