Rita Breuer (Islamic scholar)

Rita Breuer (* 1963 as Rita Stratkötter) is a German scholar of Islam and economics .

In 1991 she published her dissertation on Islamic studies, accepted at the University of Freiburg , From Cairo to Mecca: Social and Economic History of the Pilgrimage according to the reports of Ibrāhīm Rifʿat Bāšā: Mirʾāt al-Ḥaramain .

She has written a few more books and has done long-term development work in the Islamic cultural area .

Breuer works for the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution   and, according to the publicist Hartmut Rübner (2014), is responsible for Islamism and Islamist terrorism as the head of department . In 2010 she appeared as a speaker at an event organized by the Konrad Adenauer Foundation . As an expert on current issues in the Islamic world, she also took positions in other organizations and media. She is the author of Emma magazine .
