The Ritland Crater is an impact crater at the farm Ritland in the municipality of Hjelmeland in the province of Rogaland in Norway . The crater is located about 15 km east of the village of Hjelmelandsvågen and about 8 km south of Jøsenfjorden . The diameter of the impact structure is about 2 km. The crater was created by the impact of a meteorite with an estimated diameter of 100 m around 500–600 million years ago. It is covered by sediments.
