River City is a Scottish soap opera set in the fictional Shieldinch district of Glasgow . It is the longest running soap opera in Scotland and made its debut in September 2002. It is produced and broadcast by the public broadcaster BBC Scotland . Since then it has been running from 8 p.m. on weekdays.
