BBC Scotland , based in Glasgow, is part of the British Broadcasting Corporation , the United Kingdom's public broadcaster . It is de facto Scotland's national broadcaster , autonomous from the BBC's London headquarters .
BBC Scotland's main competitor is STV (formerly Scottish Television and Grampian Television ) which, despite its name, does not broadcast across Scotland. STV broadcasts are limited to the metropolitan areas of northern and central Scotland, while ITV Border covers the southern part.
Broadcasting center and studios
The BBC Pacific Quay in Glasgow is located on Pacific Quay on the south bank of the River Clyde next to the STV headquarters and the Glasgow Science Center and opened on September 20, 2007. It has since been the headquarters of BBC Scotland and has studios, offices and technical broadcasting facilities. BBC Scotland also has offices with a newsroom, as well as a small television studio and radio studio near the Scottish Parliament . The broadcaster also has an office in parliament. Spread across Scotland, BBC Scotland also has studios in Aberdeen , Dundee , Inverness and Dumfries .
BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra
The BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra was also based at BBC Scotland's Queen Margaret Drive base until 2006 before moving to the city center. The orchestra performs regularly in Scotland and around the world.

- BBC Scotland started operating on February 24, 2019. In contrast to BBC One Scotland and the former BBC Two Scotland, it not only shows Scottish content that deviates from the English counterpart in individual program items, but predominantly such.
- BBC One Scotland is the leading station and offers a mix of self-produced comedy, drama and news as well as part of the English BBC One .
BBC Scotland is also responsible for BBC Alba . The station was founded by the BBC and MG Alba .
Former television stations
- BBC Two Scotland was largely similar to BBC Two , but it also featured Scottish news and a mix of children's, youth and news programs in Gaelic. It was also broadcast more often from the Scottish Parliament. Operations ceased in favor of the BBC Scotland Channel on February 17, 2019.

- BBC Radio Scotland broadcasts on 92–95 FM and 810 MW
- BBC Radio nan Gàidheal broadcasts on 103.5-105 FM in Scottish Gaelic

- BBC Radio Orkney broadcasts on Orkney on 93.7 FM
- BBC Radio Shetland broadcasts on Shetland on 92.7 FM
