BBC America is an American cable television - Network offshoot of the BBC .

history

BBC America was founded on March 29, 1998. At the beginning, it mainly showed British series from the BBC , ITV and Channel 4 as well as reruns of American series. The station began producing its own series in the mid-2000s. One of the first co-productions made was the series The Snipers , which was previously broadcast on ITV. In 2006 and 2007, BBC America participated in the production of the BBC series The Shadow Power - The State Within and Jekyll . The station is currently producing the series Orphan Black in co-production with the Canadian stations Space and The Musketeersand Atlantis with BBC One . The first in-house production of the station without the participation of a second was the series Copper - Justice is brutal .
