The Musketeers (Original title: The Musketeers ) is a British television series by BBC One and BBC America , which is based on the novel The Three Musketeers by Alexandre Dumas and was produced for the broadcasters from 2013. The main roles are Tom Burke , Howard Charles , Luke Pasqualino , Santiago Cabrera and Peter Capaldi . It tells the story of the Musketeers , Athos , Porthos , Aramis and D'Artagnan , who fight for justice in Paris.

It was first broadcast on January 19, 2014 on BBC One and BBC One HD. After the fourth episode was broadcast, the BBC commissioned a second season. The third and final season was released in Germany on November 27, 2016 on Netflix .

In 1630, D'Artagnan , Athos , Aramis and Porthos fight for justice in Paris against evil and Cardinal Armand Richelieu . In addition, they have to reconcile their private life, their problems and their past. After the death of Cardinal Richelieu , the Comte de Rochefort takes on the role of the antagonist in the second season. In the third season, Lucien Grimaud is the opponent of the musketeers .
