Marc Warren (actor)
Marc Warren (born March 20, 1967 in Northampton , England ) is a British actor who is best known for his leading roles in the BBC series Hustle and Messiah .
Life
Warren has made various appearances in film, television, theater, and radio. He is a former member of the National Youth Theater and attended East 15 drama school without graduating. He began his acting career in 1988 with a production of the musical Godspell , his first major television role had Warren in the television series Grange Hill . In 1996 he also played the Immortal Morgan D'Estaing in the fourth season of the television series Highlander . In 1999 he was also involved in the development of the digital storyboards for the movie Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace . Marc Warren gained further notoriety as Dougie Raymond in the British television series The Vice and as Private Albert Blithe in the miniseries Band of Brothers produced by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks .
Also in 2001 the actor had an appearance in the award-winning television drama Men Only , in 2003 he took on a supporting role in the BBC series Murder on Page One . In 2004, Warren starred as con artist Danny Blue in the series Hustle , which eventually gave him his ultimate breakthrough as a television actor. After the fourth season, Warren and his colleague Jaime Murray had to drop out of the series due to scheduling problems, but according to the producers, a return to the sixth season is possible. In 2005 he played Steve Dunham in the drama Hooligans .
In June 2006 Marc Warren had a guest appearance as Elton Pope on the episode Love & Monsters of the series Doctor Who , which represented a return to his roots for the actor, since he had already worked as an extra on the series at the beginning of his career . In December of the same year he took on the role of Mr. Teatime in the Sky adaptation of the novel Schweinsgalopp by Terry Pratchett . He also played Count Dracula in a new television version of Bram Stoker 's novel of the same name. The film, which aired in December 2006, had an audience of 5.23 million. In 2007 Warren appeared as a crook in the BBC series Life on Mars - Caught in the 70s , in December he played John Simpson in the BBC production Ballet Shoes with Emilia Fox and Emma Watson .
In January 2008, Marc Warren took on the lead role of the retired Ken Stott in the fifth season of the Messias crime series as DCI Walker , he also had leading roles in the six-part comedy series Mutual Friends and the Canadian-British crime series Burn Up . He also had a small role in the US action film Wanted in 2009, where he staged Martin McDonagh's The Pillow Man at the Curve Theater in Leicester , and in 2010 Warren starred in the remake of the film Ben Hur .
In the British remake of the television crime series Van der Valk , which premiered on British television in April 2020, Warren plays the edgy title hero. ARD will also be bringing out the new series under the name Kommissar Van der Valk in late spring.
