The Rivian R1S is a battery-electric powered SUV from the US manufacturer Rivian . It was unveiled at the Los Angeles Auto Show as of 2018 . Production will start in 2020. In July 2020 it was announced that the R1S would be delivered to customers in the USA from August 2021.

Each wheel has a separate wheel hub motor , so a trailer load of 3.5 t is possible. The vehicle is equipped for semi-autonomous driving according to level 3 and designed for road traffic as well as for off-road driving .
