Gottfried Kümmell

Gottfried Kümmell (born March 25, 1866 in Aue (Wanfried) , † July 17, 1922 in Rostock ) was a German professor of physical chemistry .

Life

Gottfried Kümmell passed the Abitur in Kassel in 1884 and then studied at the universities of Bonn , Marburg , Berlin and Leipzig . In 1888 he received his doctorate at the University of Marburg on the subject of magnetic curves around a Rommershausen electromagnet . From 1892 to 1894 Kümmell was assistant at the Leipzig Physics Institute, from 1896 to 1899 assistant at the Physics Institute of the Georg-August University in Göttingen . In 1899 he received his habilitation at the University of Rostock and became a private lecturer; from 1921 he got an extraordinary professorship.

From 1912 until his death in 1922 he was head of the Rostock air station . He was significantly involved in the planning for the establishment of the air station.
