Rizzi paper

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Rizzi paper is the name of colored papers that were produced by Giuseppe Rizzi in Varese from around 1904 based on older Italian models and distributed throughout Europe.

It is about model printing papers . The colored print was done on a strong, cream-colored, highly smoothed paper, which had a format of 40 × 50 cm. The paper was offered in 4 price levels: single-color sheets cost 20 centesimi , two-color as well as three- and multi-color samples 35 and 50 centesimi.

The samples of the Rizzi paper were used by Anton Kippenberg , among others, to furnish the first volumes of the Insel-Bücherei , which he founded in 1912 , whereby the size of the sample was reduced to make better use of the printed sheets and for economic reasons.

Original sections and sheets as well as advertising materials from the Rizzi papers are kept in the German Museum of Books and Writing at the German Library in Leipzig .
