Rob Swartbol (born January 11, 1964 in The Hague , Netherlands ) is a Dutch diplomat.

Career

In 1988 Swartbol received a Masters degree in Political Science (International Relations) from Erasmus University Rotterdam .

Swartbol then held various positions in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs from 1990 to 1995. Then he was the private secretary of the Foreign Minister until 1998. Until 2002 Swartbol was Head of Political Affairs at the Dutch Embassy in Washington and then until 2006 Adviser on Foreign Policy and Defense at the Department of General Affairs.

From 2006 to 2009 Swartbol held his first ambassadorial office in Bratislava ( Slovakia ). He was then director of financial affairs at the United Nations until 2011 . From 2011 to 2012 Swartbol was Deputy Director General for International Cooperation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs until 2014. In 2014 he became Ambassador of the Netherlands in Jakarta , with accreditations for Indonesia and East Timor . He held the office until 2019.
