The Robert Koch Realschule Dortmund is located in the Hombruch district in the Renninghausen school center . Classes began in the spring of 1969. It is currently three-class and one of currently thirteen secondary schools in Dortmund. Her current focus is on MINT and the sport profile classes. She also gained notoriety through a 2007 killing spree . The school has around 530 students.

Prevented rampage

At around 1:30 pm on December 11, 2007, a school teacher observed a man fiddling with a gun in front of the main entrance. Thereupon the entire school was locked, the police alerted and the neighboring schools evacuated. The area was cordoned off over a large area. The man was then searched for by the police. Since regional radio stations reported the incident very quickly, concerned parents and onlookers went to school. When there was still no trace of the perpetrator around 5 p.m., the police decided to have the students picked up by a parent or guardian. The perpetrator was arrested at around 5:45 p.m. It turned out that the weapon was a plastic pistol and the perpetrator was intoxicated. School operations resumed the next day.

reporting

First the local radio station Radio 91.2 reported on the killing spree, then the WDR in the program " Local time from Dortmund". Also on RTL West in the program " Guten Abend RTL " was reported. Eventually, the event also made it into Stern TV's programming , which caused national notoriety for the case.
