Local time
Local time is the local television - newsmagazine of the WDR television with currently eleven different regionalization programs. Until 2006 there were also the twenty-minute local television programs "PunktDortmund" and "PunktKöln". From February 25, 2009, the Dortmund studio also broadcast “Local Time NRW” for a few months, in which contributions from the eleven local times were broadcast daily from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The regional programs department is headed in Düsseldorf .

history
The regionalization began on October 1, 1984 with the broadcast of regional " window programs ", initially from Düsseldorf (shop window), Cologne (Cologne window), Münster (Münsterland Magazin), Bielefeld (OWL aktuell) and Dortmund (here in the Revier). In 1991 the window for Südwestfalen followed under the program name “Südwestfalen heute” (broadcast first from Dortmund, since 1992 from Siegen ). On April 15, 1996, the windows were uniformly christened "Local Time" and the "Local Time Bergisch Land" from Wuppertal went on air. On November 4, 1996, the "Local Time Regio Aachen" followed, and on January 20, 1997, the "Local Time Ruhr" from Essen. Since that day, the broadcast time of all local time issues is 29 minutes at 7:30 p.m. and an additional five minutes of news at 6 p.m. The last two windows started on February 1, 2007 in Bonn and Duisburg ; together with the establishment of a correspondent's office in Paderborn , according to the director of the WDR, the so-called regionalization was completed. The WDR operates further correspondent offices in Arnsberg , Detmold , Kleve and Rheine . Since December 27, 2014, the regional local time rails on Saturday have been discontinued in favor of a centrally broadcast local time program (Saturday local time). On September 5, 2016, all eleven WDR local times went on air from new studio settings. The studios are adapted to the corporate design of other WDR studios from which the current hour , Westpol and Daheim und Unterwegs are produced. Concrete, wood and metal as well as several screens dominate the picture of the new studios.
Local time broadcast times
A five-minute local time is broadcast Monday to Friday at 6:09 p.m. directly after WDR aktuell on WDR television . Later in the evening, at 7:30 p.m., the 30-minute main edition will be broadcast after the current hour .
On Saturdays a local time is broadcast throughout NRW, on Sundays the local time stories with longer reports that are not thematically related appear at irregular intervals . The transmission time is also 30 minutes, the transmission date is at 7.30 p.m. (As of September 2016)
During the first two weeks of the 2018 World Cup, there was also a “Local Time Night” uniform in NRW, in which current topics and good news of the day were dealt with. The show was moderated by Kristina Sterz and pre-produced in the Essen studio.
Repeat appointments
From Tuesday to Saturday at 10:35 a.m., a local time from one of the regional studios from the previous evening is repeated. In addition, all eleven main local time editions of the previous evening are usually broadcast during the night between 02:00 and 06:50.
Local time on WDR 2
Since July 4, 2016 there has been a local time (short messages) on the radio every half hour on WDR 2 from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Local times & your studios at a glance
The following table and map, which partly also describes the area of responsibility of the WDR-2 regional studios (for example in the case of Wuppertal), provides an overview of which local time studio reports from the respective cities, districts or communities. In some circles ( Euskirchen , Rhein-Sieg-Kreis , Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis , Oberbergischer Kreis , Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis , Mettmann , Recklinghausen ) are responsible depending on where various local:
reception
The corresponding local time can usually be received via DVB-T2 in the individual regions of North Rhine-Westphalia . In order to ensure the highest possible supply with the "correct" local time, other programs from other neighboring regions are also broadcast at the same time. Outside of North Rhine-Westphalia, only the local time from Cologne is broadcast via digital aerial television. However, some peripheral areas, for example the Siegen-Wittgenstein district , were supplied by DVB-T transmitters outside North Rhine-Westphalia (for example from Hesse / Fernsehturm Angelburg or Rhineland-Palatinate / Bad Marienberg transmitter ) and were therefore only able to display the local time instead of the local time in South Westphalia Cologne received.
About DVB-C is so in the rest of Germany and abroad, mostly offered outside of North Rhine-Westphalia only the local time from Cologne. Since April 12, 2011 , Unitymedia has also been offering the local local time and an adjacent version within North Rhine-Westphalia in addition to the Cologne local time, which is widely distributed throughout the country (two adjacent versions in the Cologne area to get a total of three versions). The cable network operators NetAachen , NetCologne and Unitymedia offer the local time from Cologne in HD and the local times from Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Wuppertal etc. in SD digital.
All eleven local times are available across Europe without restriction via DVB-S . The WDR operates two transponders on the Astra satellites. The local time from Cologne is the only one broadcast consistently in HD, all other local times switch to SD resolution when the program is divided.
The eleven studios alternated weekly on the switched off analogue satellite television.
In addition, all local times can be received across Germany via the Zattoo Internet platform and on the WDR website. The German Telekom provides over its IPTV platform MagentaTV also all eleven local disposal.
Incorrect supplies
In the Unitymedia network in Oberhausen - Barmingholten , where the local time from Essen is responsible, it is not fed in, but the outputs from Duisburg, Düsseldorf and Cologne.
In the network of Vodafone Kabel Deutschland in Lügde , where the local time from Bielefeld is responsible, only the local time from Cologne is fed in and exclusively digitally.
In contrast to the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation and the multi-country broadcasters, you cannot select the local time output in the live stream on the Internet; instead, the expenses alternate on working days.
