Robert Leo Antonius Ameerali (born August 16, 1961 in Paramaribo , Suriname ) is a Surinamese politician. He was Vice President of Suriname from 2010 to 2015 .

Life

Previous professional career

Ameerali graduated from the Algemene Middelbare School , comparable to the university entrance qualification . From 1982 to 2010 he was director of the "Hotel Ameerali" in Nieuw-Nickerie, which his father had built . From 1988 to 2010 he was also the owner and director of NV Djinipi, two copy and digital printing companies in Nieuw-Nickerie and Paramaribo. From 1996 until his inauguration, he was also chairman of the Kamer van Koophandel en Fabrieken (KKF) in Suriname.

Election to the Vice President

On July 19, 2010 Robert Ameerali was from the Parliament elected Vice-President of Suriname. The non-party Ameerali was proposed for office by the A-Combinatie chaired by Ronnie Brunswijk . The inauguration took place together with President Dési Bouterse on August 12, 2010.

After the general election on May 25, 2015 , Ashwin Adhin succeeded him in office.
