Election to the National Assembly of Suriname 2015

The 2015 election to the National Assembly of Suriname took place on May 25, 2015.

Election 2015:
  • National Democratic Party (NDP): 26 seats
  • V 7 Combinatie: 18 seats
  • Alternative Combinatie (AC): 5 seats
  • Democratie en Ontwikkeling in Eenheid (DOE): 1 seat
  • Progressieve Arbeiders- en Landbouwers Unie (PALU): 1 seat
  • The election resulted in the following distribution among the individual parties and party combinations for the 51 seats of the National Assembly of Suriname (DNA):

    • National Democratic Party (NDP): - 26 seats
    • V7 Combinatie : - 18 seats
    • Alternative Combinatie (AC): - 5 seats
    • Democratie en Ontwikkeling in Eenheid (DOE): - 1 seat
    • Progressieve Arbeiders- en Landbouwers Unie (PALU): - 1 seat

    Of the alliance V 7 Combinatie received the Progressive Reform Party (VHP) 9 seats Pertjaja Luhur (PL) 5 seats, the National Party of Suriname (NPS) 2 seats and the Broederschap en Eenheid in de Politiek (BEP) 2 seats.

    From the Alternatieve Combinatie (AC), consisting of the Kerukunan Tulodo Prenatan Inggil (KTPI), Partij voor Democratie en Ontwikkeling (PDO) and Algemene Bevrijdings- en Ontwikkelingspartij (ABOP), the ABOP candidates won all 5 seats, 4 of them inland and 1 in Paramaribo.

    Before the first meeting of the DNA on June 30, 2015 after the election, the NDP had completed its first coalition talks. She had agreements on cooperation with the BEP from the alliance V 7 Combinatie (2 MPs), DOE, PALU (1 MP each) and with 2 MPs who had decoupled from V7 / Pertjaja Luhur (PL) after the election . The NDP could count on 32 votes in the election for its two candidates Jennifer Simons and Melvin Bouva as chairman and vice-chairman of parliament.
