Robert Aulotte

Robert Aulotte (born April 15, 1920 in Cerfontaine (North) , † November 24, 2001 ) was a French Romance studies and literary scholar.

life and work

Robert Aulotte completed his habilitation in 1964 at VL Saulnier with the Thèse Amyot et Plutarque. La tradition des "moralia" au XVIe siècle (Geneva 1965) and became professor at the Sorbonne. Aulotte specialized in the French 16th century. He was president of the SFDS (Société française des seiziémistes, later SFDES, Société française d'études du XVIe siècle), the Société internationale des Amis de Montaigne (SIAM), and the Association VL Saulnier.

Robert Aulotte founded the Center VL Saulnier (Center de recherche sur la création littéraire en France à la Renaissance) at the Sorbonne in 1982, which organizes an annual Colloque VL Saulnier, as well as the Association VL Saulnier, which publishes the annual Cahiers VL Saulnier, in the the files of the colloquium are published.
