Robert Gratzer

Robert Gratzer (born July 9, 1948 in Mariahof , Styria , † May 6, 2004 in Istanbul ) was an Austrian writer, journalist, dramaturge and publisher.

Robert Gratzer studied business administration, philosophy, German and history. In addition to various professions, he began to work as a writer. Since the 1980s he was dramaturge at the Klagenfurt City Theater, later at the ORF regional studio Carinthia , where he designed the series Literatur am Sonntag . In 1992 Gratzer wrote the libretto for the opera Esther by Ulf-Dieter Soyka .

In addition, Gratzer wrote a number of scripts, with many commercial enterprises among his clients, as well as the Austrian Federal Chamber of Commerce. He became known through the film Two Countries, One School, a Festival about St. George's College in Istanbul , where his wife Elisabeth works as a teacher.

In the 1990s, Gratzer worked as a press officer for the Carinthian Federation of Industry and as the first press officer for the Carinthian tourism company. He was also the managing director of the Alekto publishing house he founded. Since 1994 Gratzer lived in Istanbul , where he was editor-in-chief of the Turkish General . He was buried there too.
