Robert Graysmith

Robert Graysmith (born September 17, 1942 in Pensacola , Florida ) is a non-fiction author from the USA . He writes about serial killers like the Zodiac killer .

He was born under the name Robert Gray Smith. After divorcing his first wife Margaret Ann, he changed his name to Graysmith in 1976. He met his second wife Melanie while working at the San Francisco Chronicle , where she worked as an artist. They have a daughter together. The two separated in 1980 and finally divorced in 1983.

Graysmith's first encounter with the Zodiac murders was while he was a cartoonist for the SF Chronicle. Graysmith is considered to be one of the leading specialists in this series of murders. When a copycat attacker became active in New York in 1990, the New York Post contacted him.

He has authored several books, two of which, The Murder of Bob Crane and Zodiac , were made into films. In the movie Zodiac , Robert Graysmith is played by Jake Gyllenhaal .

In 2010 his book The Girl In Alfred Hitchcock's Shower was published about Marli Renfro and Myra Davis, the two doubles of Janet Leigh in the famous shower murder scene in Alfred Hitchcock's Psycho .
