Robert II (Namur)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Robert II († between 1018 and 1031) was Count of Namur from 1010. He was the son of Count Albert I and Ermengarde of Lower Lorraine.

Through his mother he was the nephew of Lambert I , Count von Löwen , whose fight against Balderich II, Bishop of Liège , he supported, whom they were able to defeat on October 12, 1012 in Hoegaarden . Robert II also took part in the Battle of Florennes in 1015 , in which Lambert was killed.

Some chroniclers explain that Robert was also killed in this battle. However, it survived and is mentioned in an imperial charter in 1018. He died unmarried and childless.
