Namur (noble family)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Namur is the first ruling family in the county of Namur .

history

The family inherited the county of Luxembourg through their marriage to Ermesinde in 1136 . In addition to Namur and Luxembourg, the family owned the counties of Durbuy and Laroche .

The house died out in 1247 with Countess Ermesinde I , who largely transferred her property to the House of Limburg-Arlon ; only the county of Namur itself went to the Counts of Hainaut on the basis of the Treaty of Dinant of July 26, 1199 .
