Gottfried (Namur)

Gottfried von Namur (1080 attested; † 19 August 1139 ) from the House of Namur was Count of Château-Porcien (uxor nomine) in 1097 and Count of Namur from 1102 . He was the son of Count Albert III. and Ida von Sachsen, the heiress of Laroche .

His first marriage was around 1087 to Sibylle von Château-Porcien, daughter of Count Roger and Ermengarde, from whom he was divorced around 1104. Sibylle married Withier de Vitri, Count von Rethel, for the second time . From this marriage she had two daughters:

  • Elisabeth, attested in 1141; ∞ Gervais, Count of Rethel ; ∞ II Clarembaud de Roscy , attested in 1141
  • Flandrine; ∞ Hugues d' Epinoy

In his second marriage, Gottfried married Ermesinde around 1109 , † 1141, daughter of Count Konrad I of Luxembourg and widow of Albert I of Egisheim, Count of Dagsburg , † 1098. The couple's children were:

In 1121 Gottfried founded the Floreffe Abbey . 1136 was his wife Ermesinde of King Conrad III. regarded as the heir to the county of Luxembourg when he transferred the county to Heinrich the Blind , the eldest son of Gottfried and Ermesindes.
