Henry II (Limburg)

Heinrich II. Of Lower Lorraine (* around 1110; † August 1167 near Rome ) was Duke of Limburg, son of Walram III.

Around 1135 he married Mathilde von Saffenberg (* around 1120; † January 2, 1145), daughter of Count Adolf I von Saffenberg . In his second marriage he married Laurette von Flanders, daughter of Dietrich von Alsace . From the first marriage come Heinrich III. von Limburg (* around 1140; † July 21, 1221 Rolduc ), who married Sophia von Saarbrücken (* 1155; † 1226) (daughter of Simon I. von Saarbrücken ) in 1167 , and Margarethe von Limburg (∞ Gottfried III. von Löwen ) .

From Heinrich II onwards, the family no longer bears the name dukes of Lower Lorraine , but rather dukes of Limburg . Heinrich held this title from 1139 to 1167.
