Walram III. (Limburg)
Walram III. Paganus (the Heide) (* around 1085; † July 16, 1139 ) was Count of Arlon from 1115 to 1119 , Count of Limburg and Lord of Wassenberg from 1118 , and Duke of Lower Lorraine from 1128 . He is also called (according to other counts) Walram II. He was the son of Count Heinrich I of Limburg . His mother is controversial in the literature (see the article on Henry I).
Walram Paganus was permanently at war with the Duke of Brabant and the Bishop of Liege . 1128 he was by King Lothar III. appointed Duke of Lower Lorraine. This made the fragmentation of Lower Lorraine final. Even his victory over the competitor Brabant in the "Grimbergh'schen Feud" (1130) could not change the balance of power.
His son Heinrich II succeeded him as Count of Limburg , but not as Duke of Lower Lorraine. This title went to the Duke of Brabant in 1139 . Heinrich II was compensated in 1140 with the title of Duke of Limburg .
He was married to Jutta von Wassenberg, daughter of Gerhard III. von Wassenberg , Count von Geldern from the Wassenberg family , who was also von Wassenberg's heir. Your children were:
